What We Do

More than a showroom — a complete bathroom design service

Most bathroom companies sell you products and leave the rest to you. We do it differently. We design your bathroom around your space — whether that's a master ensuite, family bathroom, wetroom, shower room, guest ensuite or cloakroom — source every product, coordinate delivery, and stay involved right through installation — handle the build end-to-end with us, or use your own tradesperson and we'll work with them directly.

You get a complete 3D design before anything is ordered. A fixed-price specification with no surprises. Installation drawings and technical support so your fitter has everything they need. And we're a phone call away throughout the build.

The design service is free. You only pay for the products you choose.

How It Works

Six steps from first idea to finished bathroom

Every project follows the same structured process, whether you're using your own fitter or ours. Each stage is agreed before the next begins.

  1. 01

We talk about what you want

Visit our Braintree showroom or we come to you. We listen to what you're looking for, discuss your budget, and agree on priorities. No pressure, no commitment.

  2. 02

    We measure your space

We visit your home in Maldon, take precise laser measurements, and check everything technical — plumbing, electrics, ventilation. This is how we make sure the design works perfectly in your space.

  3. 03

You see your bathroom before it's built

We create 3D visuals so you can see exactly how it will look. You choose every tile, tap, and finish. Nothing is ordered until you're completely happy — and the price is fixed at this point.

  4. 04

We order everything and manage delivery

We place all orders, track stock, and coordinate delivery to match your installation schedule. No chasing suppliers, no missing parts.

  5. 05

    We support the installation

Your fitter gets detailed installation drawings, product specifications, and fitting guidance. We stay available throughout the build to answer questions and make sure everything matches the design.

  6. 06

    Aftercare & support

Once your bathroom is finished, we hand over care guides and product manuals. All manufacturer warranties are registered. If anything needs attention down the line, we're still here.

“A thoroughly professional and very likeable company to deal with. Johnny, Jamie and the installation team were excellent in terms of communication, delivery, courtesy throughout with an excellent end result.”

Installation

Installation that works around you

However your bathroom gets built, we're behind the project. Here's how most of our clients work with us.

Professional bathroom installer fitting tiles with floor and furniture protection in place — the standard we expect from every tradesperson working on our designs

Your Own Tradesperson

Already have someone you trust?

Great — we'll work with them directly. Our designer can meet them on site, brief them on the specification, and we provide everything they need to install to the design exactly.

  • Installation drawings and product data provided
  • On-site briefing with your fitter available
  • Direct support line throughout the build
  • All manufacturer warranties included

Our Approved Installers

Need us to arrange installation?

Bowmans handles the build end-to-end — vetted, insured fitters who already know our product range and standards, with a workmanship warranty on every install we manage. Either way, we stay involved from start to finish.

We also offer a fully managed installation route for clients who'd like us to handle every aspect of the build, with a workmanship warranty on installations completed by our network.

Investment

What does a bathroom design and supply package cost?

Our design service is free — the consultation, home survey, 3D visuals and technical drawings are all included at no cost. You only pay for the products you choose.

For products only — cloakrooms start from around £3,000. Full bathrooms typically fall between £6,000 and £15,000+ depending on room size, specification level and product choices. That's the cost of everything we design and supply: sanitaryware, brassware, tiles, lighting, heating, furniture and accessories.

Installation is separate and depends on the scope of your project. If you have us handle the install, we can provide an indication of installation costs during the design phase.

The most accurate budgeting happens once scope is defined. Use our Price Guide for room-specific product pricing, or book a free showroom visit for a tailored quote.

Local Knowledge

Bathroom design for Maldon & district homes

The Maldon District has a wonderful mix of property types — Georgian and Victorian townhouses near the High Street, period cottages in villages like Wickham Bishops and Goldhanger, and modern family homes across Heybridge and the wider CM9 area. Each presents different challenges when it comes to bathroom design.

Older properties often have restricted void depth, legacy pipe routes, and uneven walls. Rural homes can have limited access for larger products and specific delivery logistics to plan around. Properties near the estuary may benefit from materials selected for long-term performance in a damp climate.

We account for all of this during the design phase — before products are ordered and before your fitter starts work. It's the difference between a bathroom that looks good on paper and one that actually works in your home.

Client Reviews

What Our Clients Say

★★★★★

“We’re very pleased with our new bathroom and would thank Bowmans for their help (and patience!) through the design process. The finished product is very much in keeping with our house and our own aspirations for the room. The installation team were excellent, taking real care to give us the quality of product which we wanted and were open to helpful discussions throughout as issues were encountered and resolved.”

Philip Wakeling — Maldon, CM9

★★★★★

“Wow this company are absolutely amazing and I can’t recommend them highly enough. They are the most efficient company I have ever had the pleasure to deal with. They were efficient hardworking and everything ran on exactly the time frame given from delivery to completing the job. Jonny the designer was incredibly patient as I changed my mind regularly but he was lovely and kept going until I was 100% happy. James the plumber was amazing. The cleanest tidiest workman I’ve ever known. He also made sure everything was perfect and wouldn’t leave until we were completely satisfied. Best money I’ve ever spent and I couldn’t be happier.”

Carolyn Cairns — West Mersea

★★★★★

“A thoroughly professional and very likeable company to deal with. Johnny, Jamie and the installation team, lead by Dohri, were excellent in terms of communication, delivery, courtesy throughout with an excellent end result. Highly recommended.”

Maldon Bathroom FAQs

Common questions from homeowners in Maldon and surrounding areas.

A lot of Maldon work comes from period homes, listed cottages and rural properties — where the design phase matters more than usual because the surprises only show up once a wall comes down. We handle that part: detailed home survey, full 3D design, every product specified to fit the room you actually have (not the room a catalogue assumes), and coordination through the build. The installation itself is delivered by your fitter or one of ours. The point is the whole bathroom arrives planned, not improvised on site.
Either works. For Maldon and the surrounding villages — Heybridge, Goldhanger, Tollesbury, Wickham Bishops — many homeowners already have a tradesperson they trust for period properties, and we work with them directly. If you'd prefer us to handle the build, our Installation Service covers the CM9 area end-to-end — vetted, insured fitters experienced with old plaster, lath-and-plaster walls, undersized joist runs and the kind of pipework that's been added to over forty years, with a workmanship warranty on every install we manage. Either route, the design support stays the same.
Our design service is completely free — the consultation, home survey, 3D visuals and technical drawings are all included at no cost. You only pay for the products you choose. Cloakrooms start from around £3,000, and full bathrooms typically fall between £6,000 and £15,000+ depending on room size, specification level and product choices. Installation is separate and depends on who does the work and the scope of your project. Use our Price Guide for room-specific product pricing, or book a free showroom visit for a tailored quote.
When you buy from a retail showroom, you're choosing products. When you work with us, you're getting a designed bathroom — every product selected to work together technically and aesthetically, precise measurements taken in your home, 3D visuals so you see the result before anything is ordered, coordinated delivery, and support through installation. The design service is free. You're not paying extra — you're getting significantly more.
Yes. Our Braintree showroom is around 30 minutes from central Maldon via the A12. You can explore materials, try taps and showers, and talk through your ideas with our design team. We recommend booking an appointment so we can give you proper time. Walk-ins are welcome too.
Yes — it's most of our Maldon work. Period cottages around Wickham Bishops and Tollesbury, the older terraces in central Maldon, and the rural properties out toward Goldhanger and Burnham-on-Crouch all bring their own constraints: uneven walls that have settled over centuries, lath-and-plaster that can't take modern fixings without backing, void depths too shallow for some wall-hung sanitaryware, and pipe routes that have been altered three or four times. The home survey is where we find all of it. For listed properties we also coordinate with conservation officers where required and specify products that fit period sympathy without compromising performance.
We work with homeowners across Maldon and the surrounding CM9 postcode area, including Heybridge, Mundon, Langford, Wickham Bishops, Goldhanger, Tollesbury, Tiptree, Great Totham, Little Totham, Danbury, Purleigh and Burnham-on-Crouch. Wherever you are locally, the process is the same.
In Maldon's older housing stock something usually does — a Victorian copper feed that turns out to run somewhere unexpected, a joist that's smaller than the building reg minimum, a soil stack that's been moved twice. We stay reachable through the entire build for exactly this. All products carry manufacturer warranties (we register them); if we handle the install, the workmanship is covered too. The design phase exists to anticipate the surprises before products are ordered, but on rural and period properties the planning never quite catches everything — having a designer on call is what makes the difference.
We work with leading bathroom brands including Crosswater, Hansgrohe, Axor, Geberit, Roper Rhodes, BC Designs, JTP, Porcelanosa, Ca' Pietra and HIB, among others. Product selection is guided by durability, design integrity and long-term performance. All products can be viewed and specified during your showroom visit.
